From the 40 Days of Daily Bread Series.
You may have recently decided to guard against a specific temptation, increase your time with God, or obey Him in a certain area. Whenever you have made a fresh decision to go forward in God in a focused area, the devil likes to utilize all means of hindering your goal. (Don’t forget you have power over him. Luke 10:19)
Most of the time your battle is simply dying to self, but your efforts may involve a stronghold in your life. A stronghold is anything that has a strong hold on you. You need the opposite greater power of the Word in that specific area in order to overcome. (ie. Bind laziness/slothfulness and loose diligence; put off anger and put on self-control). More on how-to for that here and here.
He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:29 NKJV
You Got It
“God I can’t do this. I’m failing. Help!” If this is your prayer, you’re not alone. There is hope for you. He has promised to help you and strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10). His strength is there for you. It’s yours for the asking. It’s yours for the taking. Just cry out to God and He will answer you. It’s His promise to make you bold with strength in your soul! You soul is your mind, will and emotions. Do you want strength for those areas? You got it:
In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul. Psalm 138:3 NKJV
Apply the Word
This section is to help us respond to His promptings. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
- Ask Him right now for strength and receive it! You will begin to experience His strength in whatever area you need! Our power source never runs out!
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28 NKJV
- His strength is provided to you in multiple ways: through the Body of Christ, through the power of His Word, through His tangible presence. Watch what He is going to do for you. (And don’t forget to write it in your journal.)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
- Write the verses from this post in your journal and pray them over your life.
