Day 13: You’re Not Alone

From the 40 Days of Daily Bread Series.

Note: Yesterday I said I would be blogging about pride, but I felt that I should change it.

Everyone has decisions to make. Every year.  Every month. Every day. You can certainly benefit from the wisdom of others who have walked the path before you. You can bounce ideas off of people, and learn from others’ successes and mistakes. Having someone in your life to “speak the truth in love” is needful and helpful.

As much as the devil tries to make you think otherwise, you do not walk through life alone. Look around you. You probably have at least three advisers in your life:

  • The Lord. He is the tour guide of your life. It’s His promise. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. Psalm 25:9 ESV
  • A mentor. If you really want to grow in any capacity, having a mentor is valuable.  Not just anyone out there will do. It’s often a leader that God has orchestrated to speak into your life regularly. from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Ephesians 4:16 ESV
  • An honest friend. Would you rather have a friend that agreed with everything you said, lied to your face, ignored your faults or have a friend that would be open and honest with you about your ideas and faults? Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 ESV

This section is to help us respond to His promptings. "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22 ESV #ThrivingInChrist #DailyBread #DailyTime #BibleStudy #GodTime #QuietTime #Devotions #Devotional #40dayswithGod #40daysofdailybread #Bible #spritualgrowth

Sooner or later in life you are going to be wondering about a decision and repeatedly asking, “What do I do?” God is interested in every detail of your life. Ask Him about His will concerning the choices you need to make. God may use others to confirm His will for you. Pray these verses and write them in your journal:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3: 5-6 ESV

I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23 ESV

Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14 NKJV
