Meet Deb Wolf

Please start by telling us a little about yourself.

Hi, I’m Deb – a first-born people pleaser in recovery and a preacher’s wife who vowed at a very young age that she would NEVER marry a minister. Then I met this cute pre-min student my freshman year of college … well, the rest is history.

We’ve enjoyed the joys and challenges of raising a family and now we’re thrilled to be enjoying retirement and our new home close to our daughter and her family, in Kansas City.

Life has been and is an adventure! It’s my goal is to spend every additional day God gives me counting blessings and praising God … I spent too many years anxious and afraid.

This is better!

List approximately three favorites.

  1. I love the theater! My favorite shows are Wicked and Finding Neverland. As a child, I was terrified by the Wicked Witch and Captain Hook. Seriously, if Wicked and Finding Neverland had been around when I was growing up I would have had a happier childhood.
  2. I love the seasons – all of them. There is something about the beautiful changes in God’s creation throughout the year that excites and energizes me.
  3. I love babies, puppies, chocolate, and great conversations … especially ones that include lots of laughter!

Deb Wolf

List one unique fact about you.

I started blogging at the invitation of the TJX Co. for HomeGoods Stores. No kidding, I almost hung up on the person who called me and said I’d been selected as one of five people they wanted to launch their customer blog … just because they liked our answers on a customer survey. So, in early 2007, I joined the others in Boston at TJX Corporate offices to learn more about HomeGoods and blogging!

And I traveled to Bolivia with the World Vision Bolivia Bloggers Team in 2011. You can read about that amazing experience here – https://countingmyblessings.com/world-vision/

Deb Wolf’s Blog

Tell us about your blog.

Since I was already blogging for HomeGoods, I felt the Lord nudge me to launch a blog where I could share my faith journey.

Counting My Blessings began as a place for me to hold myself accountable to taking note of the amazing things God was doing in my life beyond the problems, pain, anxiety, and loss.

God took a “good girl” rule follower overwhelmed by fear and anxiety and changed me through His Word into someone who truly believes His grace is always greater than my circumstances.

I want everyone to enjoy the freedom and peace that come through loving and trusting Jesus. If God can take me from fear to faith I believe He is able to do it for you, too!

What do you feel God leading you to do next?

Blogging can be a lonely ministry. So, I’ve felt God’s leading to help faith bloggers connect with one another. I launched the Blessing Bloggers Facebook Group in January. The group has four simple goals – 1. Share 2. Connect 3. Encourage 4. Pray

Blessing Bloggers is for anyone who is sharing the faith and hope they have in Jesus through blogging. We’d love for you to join us.

Deb Wolf’s Journey in Christ

What is your most favorite verse/passage and why?

My life verse is – Psalm 73:26

My heart and my flesh may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

God allowed me to live out my greatest fear but He also held me close and healed me through my brokenness. He proved to me that He is more than enough and more than able.

He is my strength and my portion forever. And as I’ve surrendered more and more of myself to Him, I’ve experienced His joy and a freedom from fear only Jesus can give.

As I've surrendered more and more of myself to Him, I've experienced His joy and a freedom from fear only Jesus can give. —Deb Wolf Click to Tweet

Wisdom from Deb Wolf

How do you keep your Daily Time with God regular?

Deb Wolf's familyI start every day in the Word. I love it! I’ve made it a goal to read through the Bible each year for the past thirteen years. This year, I’m reading the New Living Translation with Life Application Bible notes.

I know everyone is beyond busy! It seems like there is never enough time. And of course, if you have children who are consistently up before dawn it’s harder to start the day quietly with God.

But my greatest advice to anyone who struggles with fear, anxiety, overwhelm, worry … (okay, you get the idea) is that you grab your Bible sometime every day. Even if it’s for 5 minutes while you’re locked in the bathroom – read a couple of verses and remember how very much God loves you.

Whatever is going on in your life, God will help you, guide you, and bless you through His Word!

I am beyond amazed every day at the His ability to transform a willing heart!

Deb, wow I was so encouraged reading this!
I too find a bite of scripture does healing wonders for my anxious heart. It really is alive and active, I only need to remember this truth and bite into it.

Love this especially, “God took a “good girl” rule follower overwhelmed by fear and anxiety and changed me through His Word into someone who truly believes His grace is always greater than my circumstances.”

I get this, it sounds a lot like myself. I am grateful for your words today, and seeing your continued faithfulness in sharing God’s word is very uplifting and inspiring.

Oh, thank you, Meghan! It’s hard for us as rule followers not to become overwhelmed and anxious because it’s impossible to do life perfectly. Add to that the struggle of living with the imperfect choices of the people around us. I am so thankful for the peace I’ve found through God’s Word and the hope I have in Jesus. It’s freeing! He is taking care of the messes around me. I don’t have to! Blessings and hugs to you!!
