Welcome to my “3-year” blogiversary party! This is the first party I’ve ever had due to the bizarre history of this blog (I used to have another one I started in 2010), but it’s still something I’d like to celebrate. Three years ago this month is the day I started blogging regularly so that’s the month I’m choosing.
At one time or another in our lives, we all ask questions like:
- How did I get here?
- Why do I exist?
- What is my purpose?
Since I decided to follow Jesus at age five, I grew up with a head knowledge of the answers to those questions. Yet, it’s taken me most of my life to truly understand the purpose of my passions. My greatest passion is seeing Believers thriving in Christ.
That’s why this ministry exists. I’m inviting you to celebrate it with me today.
A Vision to Thrive in Christ
He called me teach biblical arboreal analogies and lead worship. Psalm 1:3 is a favorite, and the key verse for this blog. I think it best describes how we thrive in Christ. To thrive means to grow well or vigorously. I see that as growing without hindrance.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3 (ESV)
In verse one, the righteous are illustrated by the simile of a tree both fruitful and flourishing. So I like to compare Christians to a tree. First, we are like a seedling, and then we can grow into a strong tree.
When our roots are planted deep into the soil of God’s Word, and we are positioned to be nourished by Him, we will not wither but thrive.
Do you keep indoor plants? (I used to, but I’ve been known to kill many, many plants.) If you keep a plant indoors and every other day put it into a closet, I don’t think it would do so very well. It might survive, but it definitely wouldn’t thrive.
Just like plants and trees need vital components every day to exist as God intended, so do we as followers of Christ. This is why I talk about how we need a daily time with God. We won’t thrive if we skip days. The key is easy: nourish to flourish.
I love that thought, and I’m thankful for the vision God gave me for this online space!
So to celebrate this vision, I created How to Thrive in Christ, an eBook compiled of some of the posts that talk about this in detail. It’s my gift to you!
This 27-page eBook tells you how not just to survive, but thrive in your walk with God. It lays out the keys to unlock the victory that’s yours. I provide practical steps on how you can stay spiritually strong and healthy and how to tap into your daily portion from God.
Shout outs to Celebrate
We thrive in community, and today I’d also like to celebrate some of the blogging community. Now I can’t list all of those in the Blogger Voices Network, but they are truly some gems! The support in our community wows me again and again. I so appreciate this thriving group.
Sarah Geringer inspires me. Two thoughts stick in my mind when I think of her. The first is the brilliant way she rigged her laptop and her treadmill to walk while writing. The second is the tortoise from “The Tortoise and the Hare.” Despite the slow internet, she is steady and consistent everywhere (read: an amazing support). Remember, the tortoise wins the race, my friend.
Meghan Weyerbacher, petite powerball. I just finished her debut novel, and her writing is impressive. I’ve already told her, but I’ll say it again: I’m in awe at how her fingers fly. Also, it is so good to have a blogger friend listen to me question and dream about this online world.
Tiffany Montgomery, another friend that inspires me, has a beautiful and helpful heart. She is doing so much for the online community and still has much more to offer. Her selflessness is refreshing in this world.
Thank You Dear Readers
This blog wouldn’t be useful without readers, do I definitely celebrate you today! It is an honor to pray for you and answer your questions. I love hearing from you!
I’d like to tell you today to keep thriving in Christ by celebrating the incremental victories of growing in grace. The enemy doesn’t like you getting closer to God, and you’re probably on his radar. Stand strong no matter what the enemy throws at you. Take up your cross every day and follow Jesus. I know it’s not easy, but you can do it.
Make sure you grab your free gifts today; they were created especially for you!
The Thriving In Christ Shop will be opening soon! At the beginning, the products will be focused on helping you in your Daily Time with God. Eventually, there will be products and courses geared on spiritual growth and discipleship.
Here on the blog I hope you will find more freedom in your walk with God. This year, I’m asking God to help us identify what’s holding us back and find the freedom to thrive in Christ. Like I mentioned above, thriving is when we are growing without hindrance. Jesus came to make us free, and even wrong mindsets can hold us back.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 ESV
