I feel a passion to grow in God, as a Christian, but some days I feel stuck. I hate being stuck. Did I learn anything today? What did I learn? I’m not talking about simply learning some neat information to say, “Oh, that’s nice,” but a richness that truly impacted me.
I cried out to You, O Lord: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. Psalm 142:5 NKJV
Sometimes it’s a truth that goes deep into my spirit. Other times it’s His leading to act on a specific command, or to humble myself in repentance. And yet additional times it’s when the Father orchestrated just the precise ingredients to produce a refreshing serving of encouragement.
What did I take away today that made me take pause, or that blew me away, or that brought the same satisfaction of finishing up a hearty meal?
You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. Psalm 119:57 NKJV
When too many days go by that I don’t look for my daily bread, I start to feel weak. I start to forget His promises and the power He’s given me. The relationship seems distant, unreal. An emptiness sets in, even a type of complacency and I’m left feeling frustrated with life.
Then I sit and reflect and discover that for hours, even days, I have had the wrong thoughts revolving around in my brain. The thoughts are not victory-type thoughts.
My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 NKVJ
I then feel the need for an awakening because even life itself feels dull.
And I remember…there were times―days―that I felt the opposite. Why?
It was because I was intentional about going through each day searching until I experienced the special daily portion that He had reserved especially for me.
O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. Psalm 16:5 NKJV
I am looking for my portion today. How about you?
