How to Overcome the Impossible Obstacle

File Jul 01, 10 13 45 AMYou are walking a path, taking you forward into the future. As you venture along, excitement builds. You are running toward goals, and the speed is exhilarating. Eventually you come upon what seems to be an enormous boulder blocking your foot path.

The monstrous thing just sits. Dismay sets in. But you must keep going!

Pushing and straining, you try to move it only a smidgeon so you can squeeze by and get back to running.

You have to move it!

Try as you might, you realize no amount of human strength is going to cause it to budge. Close cliffs line each side of the footpath.

Only one way exists to keep going. You have to climb it. As you climb it, a dawning realization overtakes you.

It’s not an impossible obstacle, but the immovable Rock, God!

Once on top, your vantage point changes. New firm footing helps you to stand, and now you can see clearly the pitfall that came next in the footpath He was trying to protect you from.

This God—his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?—the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. Psalm 18:30–32 ESV

What today seems to be blocking your progress that might be the Lord protecting your footing?

  1. I often get frustrated by delays and problems. I try to remember he uses all things to my good. Great job of reminding us that he uses even what we see as obstacles to protect us.

  2. I love this, Kelly! We have to choose to see God in all the hinderances. He works all things out for our good- even when it doesn’t feel good! Linking up with you at Fresh Market Friday.

  3. I LOVED this post! I am going to be sharing with my daughter who has been frustrated by MANY roadblocks which have delayed she, my son-in-law and granddaughter from finding their own place to live. This post adds such a Biblical perspective to their situation and with it brings much encouragement!

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Such a good post! So often the frustration kicks in at the mere sight of the rock… until we realize it is indeed The Rock! Thanks for the reminder… Your neighbour at #FreshMarketFriday 🙂

  5. Great Post Kelly! I am learning the hard way to ask the “Rock” what He wants me to understand or see when facing obstacles. I look back and thank Him for His loving protection. We have to remember God sees the entire landscape of our lives and we tend to only see what’s in front of us. Thank you for sharing such a thought provoking post. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and may God bless you and yours!

  6. Kelly, as a teambuilder/educator, this got my spirit saying…yes, yes, yes! His ways are perfect, and only God can move the immoveable. This was a shot of motivation today, and I’m so glad you shared on Fresh Market Friday! Looking forward to more:) Crystal~
