I confess; I had run from God when blaming Him for my “loss in life.” I couldn’t do what I needed or wanted to do from extended debilitating health.
When God showed me that my heart needed healing from stepping away from Him…I was surprised. Perceived hurt from Him blocked a true view of Him. Deep down I knew that I didn’t want anything to come between us, but the hurt was definitely a hindrance.
I wondered how to get back to where I wanted to be with God. He showed me that I had stepped away…by choice…one little step at a time. I could step back to Him…by choice…one step at a time. It was going to take time to retrain my thinking, and to rebuild healthy habits.
He was there with wide open arms. He never stopped loving or pursuing me. I chose to step back toward Him, and fell as a crumpled heap into His arms. He took my hand at the moment I made the choice to take one step at a time towards Him. He stood me up and breathed His breath of life on my heart.
I know what it feels like to endure long difficult seasons. You feel like the life has been sucked right out of you. You don’t understand. It’s not fair. Your heart goes through turmoil. You wish it would all just go away. It is the thief that comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to bring life!
Here is a prayer you can pray if you have experienced a “loss in life” because of a difficult situation or season:
Father, thank You for never ceasing to love me no matter what I have gone through. I’m grateful that “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature” is able to separate me from Your love. I have gone through a season in which “life” has been stolen from me. Jesus, You said You have come so that I would have life, and have it more abundantly. I come to You right now, and receive Your life. Let Your Spirit come and breathe over this season that I have come up against with Your breath of life. All of what I have endured can work together for my good because I love you, even if it is to reveal my need for more of You. I do need You more. Thank You for being fully present whenever I come to You. As I am drawing near to You, breathe Your life over my heart. Cleanse me from any sin that has hindered a closeness with You. Heal my heart. Restore joy to my days. Amen.
Let your heart feast on the promises from the following verses:
John 10:10 NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
James 4:8 NKJV
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Romans 8:28 NKJV
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:37-39 NKJV
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Psalm 147:3 NKJV
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
