From the Christmas Week Appointments with God series.
You’ll need your Bible, journal (or a piece of paper), something to write with, and a few minutes.
So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:12 NKJV
Friday’s appointment with God: Today you’re going to allow the fruit of His Word to ripen in you.
1. Begin with prayer. “Jesus, I commit myself to You. I humble myself before You. Clearly reveal my Daily Bread for today.”
2. Pray the Word. When the devil was aggravating Jesus, what did He do? He responded verbally with scripture. God’s Word doesn’t return void; it always produces fruit. Now pray those scriptures you applied to each burden you were carrying. If you wrote that you were worried, then tell God, “I choose not to worry about [insert specific problem], but to trust You instead according to Psalm 62:8.”
3. Allow ripening. On Day 1 I asked you to think carefully about what God is currently teaching you. As you have gone through these appointments with God, you should have a much greater clarity on what He is specifically wanting you to learn. Choose to live it by deciding to respond with Scripture whenever a problem arises. Much of this may have been a simple reminder for you. Do not underestimate the simple. The best present you could ever give Jesus is your love. A heart that loves Him is an obedient heart (John 14:15). So continue to allow the fruit of His Word to ripen into a beautiful sweetness of spirit.
4. End with prayer. “Thank You, Jesus, for what You have been causing me to learn. I choose to continue to allow the fruit of Your Word to ripen into a wonderful sweetness.”
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 ESV
I’m so glad you have committed to come faithfully before the Lord this week. 🙂 I will continue to pray for you. Thank you for joining us for the Christmas Week Appointments with God series. Merry Christmas!
