Do you ever wish you had a blank canvas and could just start over? Do you ever come to the end of a day or find yourself sweating in an uncomfortable season and just wish you could make the parts that you messed up disappear? The fact is, good can come from negative situations. It’s the wisdom you glean from those trials that is important because they add to the person you are today.
A pencil eraser works wonders. It comes in pretty handy for a child who is trying to get his letters right. Paint is not so easy to erase. Additional paint is spilled and splashed messily on the canvas to change the image. Have you ever seen a painter in the early stages of his masterpiece? It looks like he’s messing up all over the place.
God is the painter. Your life is His canvas. If you had the power to erase the canvas He’s been painting on, your character qualities and treasure of wisdom would be erased with it. That would be the poison of a “life eraser.”
The messy times are going to come. Before you wallow in regret, recognize what God is teaching you in that moment and let Him add to your messy looking canvas. Before long you will be admiring the work of the masterpiece. After all, it’s the image of the Painter.
But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord Spirit. 2 Cor. 3:18 MKJV
